Approaches
The harbor can only be accessed during daylight and at high tide. To get to Ribe one has to pass the Ribe Chamber Lock. The lock is operated 24 hours a day and you have to pay to sail through. The entrance to Ribe Kammersluse is marked with cost all the way and easy to navigate at high tide. At normal low tide, boats with a depth of 40-50 cm can just pass through. The worst point is just after the S-turn over a distance of a few hundred meters. One's boat has to reach a maximum of 1 meter in order to be able to fully enter Ribe town. There is a speed limit of 3 knots.

Ribe is Denmark's oldest city. Ribe Harbor is located in the middle of the city center, so all the sights of the city are a short distance away. From the Viking Age until around the 1600s, Ribe Harbor was the most important port on the west coast of Jutland for shipping agricultural goods and importing goods such as wine, silk, salt and spices.

Ribe Sailing Club has a home port in Ribe harbor.

Attractions

Ribe Cathedral is magnificent. The cathedral is the main church in Ribe, which stretches from Tønder and almost to Holstebro. From the tower of the cathedral, which also has 248 steps up, you have a nice overview of Ribe town, marsh and river. There are two kings buried in the church - King Erik Emune, who died in 1137 and King Kristoffer the 1st, who died in 1259.

The Ribes Vikings Museum is a museum for the Viking Age and the Middle Ages. The Ribes Vikings Museum is beautifully located centrally in Ribe overlooking the Ribe River towards the Cathedral Here you can experience the Ribe of the Viking Age and the Middle Ages. The museum contains thousands of finds as well as a reconstruction of a full-size marketplace where you can see, smell and feel what everyday life was like in Ribe year 800.

Visit the Wadden Sea Center and stay with Denmark's new Wadden Sea National Park. Take a trip out in the marsh, in the Wadden Sea or to Mandø.

All boats regardless of size 90 kroner a day. Other members of the free port scheme pay 20 kroner in environmental tax per day. Electricity costs 20 kroner per day.
