Details

Nexø harbor is located on Bornholm's east coast. There has been a berth in Nexø since 1660, but only in the form of a few piers out to sea. An actual port was first established in 1860, and the last port expansion was made in 1980. In the 1980s, the Port of Nexø was Denmark's 4th largest port. The harbor is primarily a traffic harbor for ferry operations and fishing, with the exception of the summer months, where you, as a yachtsman, can use the harbor.

The old harbor and the west quay in the 1st basin are reserved for yachtsmen during the summer months, and the harbor offers about 60 guest berths. The port offers modern facilities.

There are good bus connections from Nexø to the rest of Bornholm.

Attractions

Right by the harbor are 2 of the city's museums, where you can experience changing exhibitions about fishing and shipping, as well as the Bornholm railway. There was a railway from Nexø to Rønne until 1968.

An excursion destination could be the paradise hills, which are part of Almindingen, which is a large privately owned forest area. The paradise hills offer many hiking trails where you can go exploring in nature.

Martin Andersen Nexø childhood home is designed as a memorial room for the author. Martin Andersen Nexø was born in Christianshavn, but grew up in Nexø. Many of his works are based on people from Bornholm. Martin Andersen Nexø's most popular novels are Ditte Menneskebarn and Pelle Eroberen. The memorial room is located at the address Ferskesøstræde 36 in Nexø. It is closed on Mondays.
